Sunburst Card

This card was featured in my video on February 19, 2024.  I've included the video below.  My notes don't have an indication where I saw this with the dimensions or I would give credit where it is due.

This card is a great way to use that last bit of patterned paper.  Remember, Stampin' Up! lists all the colors in your paper.  Get creative and mix and match papers from different packs.  And you don't have to just use patterned papers for this.  Try other papers like foils or embossed cardstock.  Or even stamp your own pieces!  I need to keep this card in mind when I get new patterned papers, too.  It's a great way to show several patterns on one card.

You'll need:

  • 4-7 pieces for your sunburst, 6" X 1-1/2"
  • a BASE of 3-3/4" X 5" piece of something thin to adhere the sunburst to
  • card base:  8-1/2" X 5-1/2"
  • I added 2 layers: 1 as a layer on the front, 1 inside:  White 4" X 5-1/4"
  • focal point and your own finishing touches.  I used a label die cut and the white die cut for my sentiment and added embellishment (twine or pearls)

Let's get started:
  1. Cut each 6 " X 1-1/2" piece on the diagonal.
  2. Mark the middle of the BASE on the 5" side, at 2-1/2".  This will be covered up by the sunburst.
  3. Adhere the triangles to the BASE with the point at the center, working around a half circle
  4. Once dry, trim the excess pieces around the BASE.
  5. Adhere the sunburst to the 4" X 5-1/4" piece.  Adhere that to the card base.  Adhere the other 4" X 5-1/4" piece inside the card.
  6. Stamp and add your focal point and embellishments.

The label die cut in all 3 cards were cut using the Something Fancy Dies.  They are a great set of 12 dies of varying sizes and shapes that can be layered.

This is the card I made in my video.  You can see the embossed Poppy Parade cardstock pieces pretty clearly.

This was my sample card.  I used 2 different pack of Designer Series Papers that are/were available during Sale-a-bration 2024.

This last card was talked about during my video.  If you look closely at the floral Calypso Coral pieces, you can see that I embossed the BASE after I adhered the triangles.  I used the Softly Sophisticated embossing folder, another Sale-a-bration 2024 item.

Of course, this is just a starting point.  I know you'll create masterpieces.  I'd love to see what you create!  Feel free to post the in my Facebook group, Sue's Stampin' Chat.

Happy Stampin'!
