Fun Fold Accordion Cards: Using 12" papers

These are great cards to make with all the Designer Series Paper you have and want to create with (so you don't feel guilty buying more).

This is the first card I made in yesterday's video.  You can see that after the video, I added a few Cherry Cobbler embellishments and a white panel inside my card.  This is my preferred card of the two card ideas, because you see the middle fold.  It's most noticeable and more effective with the 2-tone cardstock base and added panels of patterned paper.  See a few samples of that below.

Also note, you do see both sides of the patterned paper.  Just something to keep in mind.

This is a great use of a patterned paper that has a scene on it.  You do however, need 9-3/4" of patterned paper to complete the card this way.  So if it's a 6" X 6" patterned paper, you will need 2 of them.

You need:

2-tone paper that is 5-1/2" X 12",
scored at 1-3/4", 4-3/4", and 7-3/4".

DSP cut to:
  •  2 at 1-1/2" X 5-1/4",
  • 2-3/4" X 5-1/4", and
  • 4" X 5-1/4".

and a white/vanilla/beige piece that is 2-3/4" X 5-1/4".

If you don't have the 2-tone cardstock, try using a piece of DSP with a muted print.  Be sure to check both sides of the paper!

It's also a great card to showcase several patterns.  I use patterns from one pack of paper, but with how consistent Stampin' Up!'s colors are, you could really mix and match patterns with the same color from different packs of paper.

I used 4 different designs on this card!

This was supposed to be my sample card, so I used retired DSP from Sale-a-bration earlier this year.  But I love the way it turned out!  Leave a comment below if you'd like a card like this brightening your mailbox.  (Seriously, leave a comment by June 30, 2025 and I'll send a card to brighten your day!)

My friend, Judy said that she scores her cards like this at 2", 4", 6" and 8".  While it's still a multi-fold card, you don't see the middle section when the card is closed, so it's not nearly as effective as the measurements above.

Notice that after my video, I added 2 small white die cuts to write on.  And the cherry cobbler embellishments were also added after the video.

Here are 2 samples using these scoring lines.

This final card has an interesting print.  I believe it was intended to be used for a scrapbook page.

I will probably stamp more on that 4th panel, next to the white panel; I just need to find the right stamp for that space.

My final note:  the height of the card can vary.  5-1/4" and 5-1/2" would work when starting with a 12" X 12" piece of patterned paper.  Like my second card in the video, I liked using a height of 5-1/4" and adding a cardstock backing to the card.  It makes it sturdier and isn't too bulky since you're using DSP for most of the card.

Here are the most notable products you'd need to make cards like these yourself.  While our 2-tone cardstock does come in single color packs (I'll included the Garden Green pack here), these multi-color packs are great if you want to try this card with a variety of colors.

I'll include a few of the patterned papers I used as well.  Some of these are on the Last Chance list and may not be around for long.
