Bags made from Designer Series Paper

I made this bag during my Facebook Live on Monday, June 28, 2021.  The video is also available on YouTube if you're interested.  Stampin' Up!'s co-founder, Shelli Gardner posted a video on her blog, SoShelli.com, on October 18, 2020 sharing this fold using Designer Series Paper (DSP) that was 12" X 12".  I played around and have many other options for you, depending on the size you want your final bag to be.

(NOTE:  PLEASE let me know if you find any errors in my measurements!  I checked and double checked my numbers, but I do make mistakes.  Thanks!  Sue)

12" X 12" DSP

I used the Sweet Ice Cream stamp set.  I just fussy cut the ice cream scoop and the cone.  The 'Happy Birthday' was stamped on a piece of 2" cardstock.  The ends were punched with the Label Me Lovely punch.  I used Flirty Flamingo, Melon Mambo, Sahara Sand, and Soft Suede ink when I stamped.  The ribbon was 1/4" white Crinkled Seam Binding that I colored using Flirty Flamingo ink refill and rubbing alcohol.  See my YouTube video from June 23, 2021 for more ideas on coloring your ribbon and twine.

Size of DSP:  12" X 12"

Score: 5", 7"

Turn 1/4:  Score:  3", 9"

Base Size:  6" X 2"

9" X 9" DSP Version 1

This is big enough to hold a gift card.

Size of DSP:  9" X 9" Version 1

Score:  3-3/4", 5-1/4"

Turn 1/4:  Score:  2-1/4", 6-3/4"

Base Size:  4-1/2" X 1-1/2"

9" X 9" DSP Version 2

This one is big enough for a gift card, as well, if you clip the top closed.  If punching holes for ribbon or twine, the gift card would get in the way of closing your bag.

Size of DSP:  9" X 9"  Version 2

Score:   3", 6"

Turn 1/4:  Score:  3-3/4", 5-1/4"

Base Size:  3" X 1-1/2"

8" X 8" DSP Version 1

This would be my preferred size to hold a gift card.  The pink one is made with card stock; it works but doesn't fold quite as well as DSP.

Size of DSP:  8" X 8"  Version 1

Score: 3-1/4", 4-3/4"

Turn 1/4:  Score:  1-3/4", 6-1/4"

Base Size:  4-1/2" X 1-1/2"

8" X 8" DSP Version 2

This size is just a little too small to hold a gift card, but would be good for other small items, like cash, a check, jewelry or of course, candy.

Size of DSP:  8" X 8" Version 2

Score:  3-1/2", 4-1/2"

Turn 1/4:  Score:  2-1/2", 5-1/2"

Base Size:  3-1/4" X 1"

8" X 8" DSP Version with 1/2" Flap

This was a 'happy little mistake' I discovered while trying to figure out these other size papers.  You could adhere the flap closed or add hook and loop tape, magnets or another closure.  Another idea is to tie a ribbon or twine around the whole bag, wrapping it around the top and under the bottom.

Size of DSP:  8" X 8"  Version 3--With Small Flap

Score:  1/2", 3-1/4", 5-1/4"

Turn 1/4:  Score: 2-1/4", 5-3/4"

Base Size:  3-1/4" X 2"

6" X 6" DSP

These small bags are just so cute that I wanted to include all of my samples!  I hope the picture of the open bag helps you remember how to create these bags.

Size of DSP:  6" x 6"

Score: 2-1/2", 3-1/2"

Turn 1/4:  Score:  1-1/2", 4-1/2"

Base Size:  1-1/2" X 4-1/2"
