Brushed with Beauty Craft Class: Beautiful Gallery Suite

I took the Brushed with Beauty Craft Class but used the Beautiful Gallery products instead.  I had to be a little creative because of my choice;  they made a 12" X 12" scrapbook page with a Designer Series Paper (DSP) base.  My DSP was only 6" X 6".  Not being a scrapbooker, I didn't know what I'd do with a page anyway, so I created a home decor piece using their ideas.

This was the sneak peek we got before the class.  Along with the list of products we'll be using, they show us just enough of the projects that I could easily decide on the products I'd use instead.

Looking at those photos and the Brushed with Beauty suite, I knew I needed floral die cuts, some words, and a leaf die cut with open centers.  The last photo I figured was the project we'd use the embossing paste and re-inkers on.  I added the Friends for Life and Pretty Florals dies to my products, too as shown below.

This is the Beautiful Gallery suite.  I did not use the embellishments or ribbon on my projects.  I used the 2025-2027 In Color Flat Pearls on 3 of my projects instead.

Project #1

Our first project was a box made of cardstock.  It was designed to hold notecards and envelopes.  Most people I know prefer A2 cards, so if I make this again, I'd adjust the measurements accordingly.

I liked the use of the vellum layer to soften the project/DSP.  I used 2-tone cardstock for my leaves.  I love the subtle color difference.  I also remembered to use an adhesive sheet on the cardstock before I cut my flower detail die.

Project #2

Next, they made the scrapbook page.  As I mentioned above, I'm not a scrapbooker and didn't have the 12" X 12" DSP to make their page, so I used my 6" X 6" DSP and a frame that had been part of our Kits Collection.  I took a long time deciding on my background paper.

We added texture to die cuts using embossing paste and that is a bit lost on my project since I put it behind glass (well, plastic!  LOL).  I liked adding color to my floral sprays by stamping a few times in the various colors and fussy cutting the flowers for added interest.

The torn vellum layer was what they did on their scrapbook page.  I like the effect.

Project #3

Next was our card with the colored embossing paste.  I accidentally added 2 drops of Calypso Coral ink and I wasn't able to get the swirl effect I wanted.  Using 2 layers of cardstock with the top one embossed was a great idea, because a single layer would have warped.  It was a fun background to create.

I also used the Friends for Life die cut for my sentiment.  Since I stamped my flowers in Secret Sea, I knew my colors would bleed if I brushed the color onto my flowers.  So, instead, I dabbed the color on using a water painter, avoiding the stamped outline.

Project #4

This was a great technique!  By die cutting in the center of our layer and putting the open die cuts back into the layer, you can see the DSP behind the leaves.

I like the idea of die cutting, embossing and adding color with Blends as I did for the accent leaves.  I'll try it again on a future project, but I'll use green Blends instead.  I do prefer items from nature that I include on my projects to be more realistic.  So, the technique was great, but my execution of it wasn't great.

Stampin' Up! plans to offer more craft classes in 2026.  I hope you'll join in the fun!  I've taken both classes and neither time did I use exactly the products they suggested, so don't let the long list of products they are using keep you from taking a class.  Use what you have in your craft stash!  I did!
