July 2022 Christmas Card

Less than 1/2 hour ago I realized that it was the 25th and I hadn't made this month's Christmas card yet.  I tell you that so you'll know that this was a very quick card!   A Designer Series Paper layer, a few die cuts, a stamped sentiment and a little bit of bling--and done!   I'm looking forward to playing around with this stamp set and dies.  I used the Holly Berry dies that are in the Boughs of Holly suite on pages 24-25 of the July - December 2022 mini catalog.  The large single holly leaf was die cut out of Distressed Gold Specialty Paper that is part of the Texture Chic suite in the annual catalog.  You'll find it on pages 99 and 139.  The sentiment on the card can be found in the Celebrate with Tags stamp set (page 67 in the mini).  The stamp on the envelope is from the Leaves of Holly stamp set, in the Boughs of Holly suite.  The tiny gold pearls are the Festive Pearls (although my packaging calls them Red & Green Adhesive-Backed Pearls) on page 31 of

Two Challenges! A Sketch and a Color Combination

I keep hearing about working smarter, not harder, so when I needed a card sample for my weekly video, I looked at two current challenges.  This week's Freshly Made Sketch and the colors for the Color Throwdown fit perfectly with my new stamp set, Celebrate with Tags.  This card came together very quickly! I did use 2 different Designer Series Papers for my top and bottom rectangles.  I could have use colored cardstock instead, but I liked the added shades of colors. Craft Roulette Episode 122

I was able to watch and craft with Craft Roulette on YouTube last night, July 22, 2022 for episode 122.  This is my 12th submission.  Don't know what Craft Roulette is?  I explain it below. This week's parameters were: Project:  4x6 Card Colors:  Coral and Cool Colors Element:  Pocket Random:  Miniature(s) With Stampin' Up!'s color coordination my card came together quickly!  I knew I'd need to make an envelope for my card and I just grabbed some retired patterned paper (Designer  Series Paper, DSP) and it just happened to have Calypso Coral stripes on the back side.  To Bob Ross, 'A happy little accident', although he was referring to a 'mistake' not being a mistake....  I did use a few retired Stampin' Up! products, but most are still current or even new products! Wonderful World Sale-a-bration 2022 Bundle

As I mentioned in my video from July 18, 2022, I'm sharing a few cards I made using the floral bundle, Wonderful World.  I'll try to highlight different ideas for each card. I'll use the abbreviations AC for our 2022-2023 Annual Catalog.  JD for the July-December 2022 mini catalog. I will include the page number, too.  All of my colors were found in the DSP.  Let Stampin' Up! do the work of color coordination for you! Let's start with the card I shared as a sample during my video.  The Pear Pizazz 'banner' end was cut with the Handmade Tag punch (JD-21).  That banner piece was embossed with the Fern 3D embossing folder (AC-176) then I highlighted it with a Blending Brush with Mossy Meadow ink. Here on my website you'll find a number of blog posts about using Designer Series Paper (DSP) in general.  This use of a 3" x 3" piece of DSP and a 3-1/4" X 4-1/4" coordinating cardstock layer  is a great way to use just a small piece of DSP a

Freshly Made Sketch 543

Time for another sketch!  I usually start with a product I want to use, often times that is Designer Series Paper (DSP), then I look for a sketch that I can use with that DSP.  Freshly Made Sketches is my favorite place to go.  They have over 500(!) sketches to try. Here's their latest sketch, #543. For my card using that sketch I used some new DSP.  For this card, I used the Rings of Love DSP that is a Sale-a-bration item, free with qualifying purchase until August 31, 2022 (while supplies last).  I love the dies that peek out under the DSP focal point.  I chose my colors based on the colors in the DSP.   The smallest square of DSP could be layered more than once to use as a focal point.  Can you see the scrap strip of DSP I included on the inside of my card?
